Poem I wrote for Duane's baptism

I prayed for you so many times in my special place
A still small voice said to me,
not to worry, everything is going as planned
I protested, but I was reassured, just you wait and see

My heart ached for us because of what I know
You always wanted to understand but had no clue
You tried and tried but couldn’t prevail
Until one day, your heart was humbled and then you knew

The spirit touched your soul, you couldn’t deny
Your prayer was answered, there’s reason to rejoice
I never saw a radiant being glowing so bright
the wait was over and you made the right choice

We can start the path that leads to eternal life
Holding hands with our children near
enjoying the blessings that is our to keep
Our family will be forever, now I have nothing to fear

The still small voice was right all along
Our trials and tribulations were not in vain
What we didn’t see then, we can see now
A new beginning with much more to gain
